A 55-year-old man drowned in Cedar Lake on the evening of April 23 after falling from his kayak, according to Denville Police.
Officers responded around 8:23 p.m. following reports that a man had gone under the water. Multiple agencies assisted in the search, including Denville OEM and Fire Department, Morris County Sheriff’s and Prosecutor’s Offices, Parsippany Rescue and Recovery, the Morris County Swift Water and Dive Rescue Team, and the New Jersey State Police Marine Unit.
The victim, identified as Ronnie McLeod of Cedar Lake, was located in the water and pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities say the incident appears to be a tragic accident, with no signs of foul play.
