Starting January 5, 2025, New York City will implement a new Congestion Relief Zone Toll to reduce traffic, improve air quality, and make streets safer. Morris County residents commuting into Manhattan could mean increased travel costs and route adjustments.

The toll applies to vehicles entering Manhattan below 60th Street, with E-ZPass users charged $9 per day and higher rates for those without. Exempt routes offer limited relief, such as the FDR Drive, West Side Highway, and Hugh L. Carey Tunnel connecting to West Street. However, exiting onto streets in the Congestion Zone will incur a toll.

For those without E-ZPass, toll bills will be mailed. Locals frequently driving to Manhattan are encouraged to sign up for E-ZPass to reduce costs or explore public transit options.

This new toll could significantly impact Morris County residents’ daily commutes, making trip planning essential in the weeks ahead.
