The Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority (MCMUA) will host four free Household Hazardous Waste Disposal events in 2025. Residents can safely dispose of hazardous materials on the following Saturdays, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM:
- May 17: Jefferson Township DPW, 1033 Weldon Road, Lake Hopatcong
- June 21: Chatham High School, 255 Lafayette Avenue, Chatham
- September 20: Pequannock Valley Park, Marvin Road, Pompton Plains
- November 8: County College of Morris, Parking Lot #1, 214 Center Grove Road, Randolph
Accepted Materials
Residents can drop off the following items for safe disposal:
- Pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers
- Oil-based paints, stains, paint thinners, and removers
- Solvents and automotive fluids
- Lead-acid and rechargeable batteries
- Pool chemicals and darkroom chemicals
- Aerosol cans (not empty)
- Propane and helium cylinders
- Asbestos (up to 100 pounds, wetted, double-bagged, and sealed)
- Driveway sealant and roofing tar
- Fluorescent bulbs and PCB ballasts
- Mercury thermometers and switches
- Household cleaning products
- Muriatic acid
These events aim to promote safe disposal and protect the environment. No pre-registration is required, and all events are free.
