The Columbia Trail will be closed to the public on weekdays from April 27 through May 8 while the Morris County Park Commission resurfaces the popular trail. It will remain open on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the project.

The Columbia Trail runs roughly 15 miles from High Bridge in Hunterdon County to the border of Mount Olive and Washington Township in Morris County, passing through Long Valley. It follows the former High Bridge Branch of the Central Railroad of New Jersey and is one of the most used rail trails in the region, drawing walkers, runners, and cyclists from Denville and across Morris County.

Residents planning spring workouts should plan ahead during the two-week window. Nearby alternatives include Patriots’ Path, Lewis Morris County Park, and the Traction Line Recreation Trail in Morristown.

The trail will fully reopen once resurfacing is complete, and the latest closure information is available at morrisparks.net.
