The Denville Police Department released its July 2026 monthly recap this week, reporting 2,964 calls for service across the township.
The department publishes the breakdown every month and posts the full archive on its Monthly Reports page. In announcing the latest report, the department said transparency is an essential tool in building trust and confidence between law enforcement and the community it serves.
July’s totals included 921 motor vehicle encounters, 66 motor vehicle crashes and 963 residential and commercial property checks. Officers made 24 adult arrests and 18 DWI arrests, and responded to 128 fire and medical assists, 65 alarm and 911 responses and 49 animal control calls.
The department also logged 132 community policing events, 32 assists to other agencies, 13 domestic incidents, four mental health crisis or missing person calls and eight drone deployments. Another 541 incidents were categorized as other police services.
The July figure lands just under June, when the department reported 3,010 calls for service.
The recap also highlighted one investigation. Shortly after midnight on July 22, officers stopped a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Route 10 East. Police said they found a controlled dangerous substance and drug paraphernalia inside the car, and both the driver and the passenger were charged. The passenger was also wanted on an outstanding warrant and was turned over to another department.
