All three westbound lanes of Interstate 80 are scheduled to reopen this weekend in Wharton, 11 days ahead of schedule, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation.
Overnight lane closures will continue through Wednesday, June 11. Each night from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., one of the two currently open westbound lanes will be closed near Exit 34B (Jefferson/Sparta) to allow crews to remove barriers and repave the left lane and median. At least one lane will remain open overnight.
A full westbound closure is planned for Friday night, June 13, to complete final paving and striping. All lanes are expected to reopen on Saturday, June 14, weather permitting.
The speed limit on I-80 westbound remains 45 mph through the work zone. Drivers are reminded that this is an active construction area and are advised to slow down and use caution.
On the eastbound side, two lanes reopened on May 21. The remaining work is ongoing and full reopening is scheduled for June 25.
