Denville families who need a hand getting ready for the new school year can pick up free backpacks, school supplies and fresh produce at County College of Morris later this month.
CCM and the nonprofit Table of Hope will hold their sixth annual Backpack Giveaway on Friday, Aug. 28, 2026, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in Parking Lot 1 on the college campus at 214 Center Grove Road in Randolph.
The event is free and open to Morris County residents facing financial hardship. Each child receives a backpack filled with essential school supplies, and families also take home fresh local produce. Community partners will be on site with information on local resources and support services.
Organizers strongly encourage families to pre-register. Backpacks are handed out first come, first served while supplies last. The giveaway runs as a drive-through, so participants must stay in their vehicles, and walk-up distribution will not be available.
“At County College of Morris, we are proud to be the community’s college, and that means showing up for our neighbors in meaningful ways,” CCM President Anthony J. Iacono said in the college’s announcement.
The college credits Table of Hope, state and local leaders, the Morris County Sheriff’s Office, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, Alstede Farms, the Morris County Council of Education Associations, college employees, corporate sponsors, community organizations and a team of volunteers that includes CCM student athletes and student leaders.
Table of Hope, founded in 2011, works on food security, educational support and community engagement for Morris County families. The two organizations also partner each November on a Thanksgiving food distribution.
