New Jersey residents are being reminded that applications are now open for New Jersey’s 2025 ANCHOR property tax relief program. The deadline to apply is October 31, 2025, and anyone who did not receive a notice in the mail is encouraged to file before then.

Under the program, homeowners with income up to $150,000 in 2024 may qualify for $1,500 in relief, while those with income between $150,001 and $250,000 can receive $1,000. Homeowners age 65 and older are eligible for an additional $250, bringing their maximum benefit to $1,750. Renters under 65 with income below $150,000 can receive $450, and renters 65 and older may receive $700.

Payments will begin going out on a rolling basis starting September 15. State officials say most residents will receive their relief within about 90 days of filing. Those who file online can choose either direct deposit or a paper check, while those who file by mail will receive a paper check only.

Applications, instructions, and more details about eligibility are available through the New Jersey Division of Taxation’s website at https://www.nj.gov/treasury/taxation/relief.shtml
