Morris County will bring the Revolutionary era back to Morristown for three days next month, with reenactors, historic house tours and a trivia night filling out Living History Weekend from Friday, Sept. 25 through Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026.
The weekend is part of Morris County’s ongoing celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, and every stop is a short drive from Denville.
Things open Friday night with Revolutionary History Trivia Night at Glenbrook Brewery in downtown Morristown, running 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Saturday is the centerpiece. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Morristown Green becomes a Revolutionary era gathering place with reenactors, historic figures, a militia, 18th century medical and weaponry exhibits and a silhouette artist. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., historic organizations around town open their doors for special programs, exhibits, talks and tours. Confirmed stops include Macculloch Hall Historical Museum, home to the nation’s largest single collection of original works by political cartoonist Thomas Nast, the Sansay House, where the American Friends of Lafayette will share the story of the Marquis de Lafayette, and the Presbyterian Church in Morristown, where the Morris County Historical Society will present talks on local history. County officials say more sites will be announced as the weekend approaches.
Sunday wraps things up from noon to 5 p.m., when a History Corridor featuring county historic sites and organizations joins the Morristown Partnership’s annual Festival on the Green.
“Living History Weekend gives people an opportunity to experience our history in the places where it actually happened. We are proud to help connect a new generation with the stories that helped shape our county and our nation during this historic year,” said Morris County Commissioner Director Stephen Shaw.
