The 2026 FIFA World Cup kicks off June 11, and New Jersey is at the center of it. MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, temporarily renamed New York New Jersey Stadium for the tournament, will host eight matches, including the World Cup Final on July 19, 2026.
The action in East Rutherford starts Saturday, June 13 with Brazil vs. Morocco at 6 p.m. Four more group stage matches follow: France vs. Senegal on June 16 at 3 p.m., Norway vs. Senegal on June 22 at 8 p.m., Ecuador vs. Germany on June 25 at 4 p.m., and Panama vs. England on June 27 at 5 p.m. The stadium will also host a Round of 32 match on June 30, a Round of 16 match on July 5, and the final on July 19 at 3 p.m.
For Denville and Morris County fans heading to a match, NJ Transit is the recommended way to get there. Riders on the Morris & Essex and Montclair-Boonton lines, both of which stop in Denville, can connect at Secaucus Junction to the Meadowlands Rail Line, which runs directly to the stadium. Rail tickets to the stadium must be purchased in advance through the NJ Transit Mobile App, and riders must hold a match ticket to buy one.
Commuters who are not attending a match should plan ahead on matchdays. In the four hours before kickoff, rail access at Penn Station New York and Secaucus Junction will be limited to match ticketholders.
The expanded 48-team tournament is being played across the United States, Canada and Mexico, marking the first World Cup on American soil since 1994. The full match schedule for New York New Jersey Stadium is available at nynjfwc26.com.
