Morris County will mark the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks with a remembrance ceremony and candlelight vigil on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2026 at 7:30 p.m. at the Morris County 9/11 Memorial, 460 W. Hanover Ave. in Parsippany-Troy Hills.
Dennis Letts, a retired U.S. Secret Service executive who was at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, will give the keynote address. The county plans to livestream the ceremony on its government Facebook page for anyone who cannot make it in person.
The memorial was finished in time for the second anniversary of the attacks. It incorporates three pieces of World Trade Center steel, remnants of Flight 93 and soil from the Pentagon, and it carries the names of the 64 Morris County residents who were killed.
Several towns near Denville are holding their own observances on Friday, Sept. 11, 2026. Parsippany-Troy Hills starts at 8:40 a.m. at the monument in front of the Municipal Building, 1001 Parsippany Blvd. Morris Plains follows at 10 a.m. at the memorial at the intersection of Routes 53 and 202. Montville holds an 11 a.m. service at Community Park Freedom Plaza, 130 Changebridge Road, and VFW Post 7333 in Randolph hosts its Patriot Day ceremony at 11 a.m. at 103 Carrell Road. Rockaway Township closes out the day at 5 p.m. at the Parks Lake Gazebo, a start time the township moved up from 7 p.m.
Morris Township goes earlier in the week, at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026, at the Ginty Field Gazebo, 35 Woodland Ave.
Denville does not appear on the county list, and the county notes that the list may not include every local event. Residents should check their own town website and social media for anything added closer to the date. The full county roundup, with links to each ceremony, is posted on the Morris County news page.
