Six members of the Denville Volunteer Fire Department were recognized for their years of service at the department’s annual Years of Service celebration on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Casa Bianca in Oak Ridge.
Morris County Commissioner Deborah Smith attended the event and presented certificates on behalf of the Morris County Board of County Commissioners, honoring the firefighters for their dedication to the department and the community.
James Crothers was recognized for 50 years of service, and Herbert Trillich for more than 40 years. Richard Yobs, Christina Kovacs, Kevin Andreano and Rich Andes were each honored for 20 years of service. Together, the six represent more than 175 combined years with the Denville Volunteer Fire Department.
Two of the honorees serve the county in other roles. Yobs is a senior public safety telecommunicator with the Morris County Communications Center, and Kovacs is a detective captain with the Morris County Sheriff’s Office.
The recognition comes as the all-volunteer department marks its 100th anniversary in 2026. Operating as three companies that work as one, it provides fire protection and emergency medical care across Denville and responds to an average of 1,200 calls a year. County officials thanked the firefighters for their commitment to public safety and their service to the community.
