Denville’s annual concert and fireworks display, postponed over the July 4 weekend because of extreme heat and the threat of severe thunderstorms, now has a firm new date. The township has set the makeup show for Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 7 p.m. at Gardner Field.
The fireworks were originally set for the Denville Days weekend, but organizers called them off to protect the crowd from dangerous heat and a high chance of late-day storms. In an update posted to the township website, officials explained that fireworks contracts require full payment even if a show is scrapped the day of, so the decision was made in advance to postpone rather than risk a washout.
Gardner Field, in the heart of Denville, will again host the free concert and fireworks.
Denville Days itself went on as planned across the original weekend. Most activities were held under a big tent cooled by misting fans, and Sunday’s lineup included the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast. The festival is part of the community’s programming marking the nation’s 250th anniversary.
Mayor Thomas Andes thanked residents for their patience through the power outages and heat that followed the July 3 storm, and urged everyone to stay cool and safe.
Anyone planning to attend the July 25 show should watch the township’s channels for any last-minute weather updates.
