Trick-or-treat tips for Denville families

  • Light them up. Plenty of Denville’s residential streets have no sidewalks and little street lighting. Give kids a flashlight or glow sticks and add reflective tape to dark costumes.
  • Go early on Saturday. With Halloween on a weekend this year, expect busier streets and more cars after dark.
  • Stick to porch lights. Lit homes are the usual signal that a house is handing out candy.
  • Check the haul at home. Toss anything unwrapped or opened, and watch for allergens.
  • Drivers, slow down. Kids dart between parked cars, especially in neighborhoods off Route 53 and Franklin Road.
