County College of Morris has acquired The Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art, bringing one of the best known names in comic art education under the county college’s roof beginning this fall.
The school will operate as The Joe Kubert School at CCM. A formal signing event is set for Monday, Aug. 17, 2026, on the college’s Randolph campus, a short drive from Denville. The county college has been steadily expanding its offerings this year, including a new online accelerated business degree.
Founded by the late comic book artist Joe Kubert, the school is based at 2 Green Village Road in Madison and brings a 50 year legacy of training cartoonists and illustrators. Its industry relationships include DC Comics, Marvel Comics, IDW Publishing and Dynamite Entertainment, and alumni have gone on to work at Walt Disney Animation, Warner Bros. and Pixar Animation Studios.
“We are honored to welcome The Joe Kubert School into our community and to continue its extraordinary legacy of inspiring generations of artists and creators,” CCM President Dr. Anthony Iacono said in the announcement.
Anthony Marques, president of The Joe Kubert School, said pairing the school’s specialized art instruction with CCM’s resources will open more doors for students preparing for careers in the commercial art industries.
The program runs through CCM’s Center for Workforce Development. The full-time certificate program continues in its traditional daytime format, online courses continue, and new in person evening options are being added. Students also gain access to CCM services including academic advising, tutoring, career services, transfer services and the campus library and fitness center, plus more than 50 student clubs and organizations.
