The Denville Public Library will host a free, in-person program on avoiding scams, fraud and identity theft on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2026, from 4:30 to 5:30 PM.

The session, titled “Scams, Identity Theft, and You: How to Stay Protected,” is open to adults. According to the library’s event listing, it will cover how to guard personal and financial information, how to spot the warning signs of a scam, the ways banks work to protect their customers, practical steps to lower your risk and what to do if you have already been targeted.

The program takes place at the library, 121 Diamond Spring Road. There is no charge, but space is limited and an RSVP is required through the event page. As of Thursday morning, Oct. 15, the listing showed 15 seats still open.

Residents who believe they have been the victim of a crime in town can also reach the Denville Police Department, which recently added an online reporting option for certain non-emergency incidents. Older residents looking for more programs close to home can check out the Denville Senior Center’s clubs, trips and free Dial-A-Ride service.

Questions about the program can be directed to the library at 973-627-6555.
