The library network behind the Denville Public Library’s shared catalog has a new name. The MAIN Library Alliance officially became Pillar Libraries, or PILLAR, on Oct. 5, 2026, and Denville cardholders will start to see the change in their inboxes and on their phones this month.
PILLAR stands for Partners in Libraries, Lending, and Resources. According to the nonprofit’s announcement, it connects 68 public libraries across Essex, Hunterdon, Morris, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren counties. The old name came from the Morris Automated Information Network.
The most practical change involves email. Notices about holds ready for pickup, renewals and other account updates will now come from addresses ending in @pillarlibraries.org. The network is asking patrons to add that domain to their contacts or trusted senders so the messages do not land in a spam folder.
The MAIN Library Alliance (NJ) mobile app is also being renamed Pillar Libraries (NJ) during October, with a new icon. Patrons do not need to download it again. Old mainlib.org web links now redirect to pillarlibraries.org, and the Denville Public Library website already labels its online catalog the Pillar Catalog. The announcement does not mention any change to existing library cards.
With account notices now arriving from a new sender address, patrons who want a refresher on spotting fake messages can attend the Denville library’s free scam prevention talk on Thursday, Oct. 22.
Older residents who rely on these services can also find programs close to home through the Denville Senior Center’s clubs, trips and free Dial-A-Ride service.
