Denville drivers should plan for detours next week as the township’s road resurfacing work moves into its next round, with milling crews on Kitchell Road and Ford Road from Tuesday, Oct. 27, through Friday, Oct. 30, 2026, and three more neighborhoods on Monday, Nov. 2.

The Township of Denville posted the schedule in an Oct. 23 road resurfacing advisory. Crews will work from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, and the township is asking motorists to follow all posted detours.

Here is the milling schedule as the township listed it:

Tuesday, Oct. 27: Kitchell Road, from Hillcrest to Whitman.

Wednesday, Oct. 28: Kitchell Road, from Alpine to Whitman.

Thursday, Oct. 29: Kitchell Road, from Whitman to Ford, plus Ford Road from Kitchell to Bridge.

Friday, Oct. 30: Ford Road, from Kitchell to Bridge.

Monday, Nov. 2: Rockaway Avenue from Cedar Lake to the end, Laurel Avenue from Rockaway Avenue to the end, and Druid Hill and Sleepy Hollow from Cooper to Aerie Wynde.

Milling grinds away the worn top layer of asphalt so a fresh surface can go down, which means affected streets can be bumpy and narrowed in the meantime. The township said paving will follow, but it has not yet posted those dates. We will share the paving schedule once it is announced.

The road work lands while the Denville Water Utility is still in the middle of its fall hydrant flushing, which began Oct. 13 and runs weekdays from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for about three to four weeks, so some neighborhoods may see both crews in the same stretch.
