Morris County is in for a summerlike stretch this week before a strong cold front brings rain on Friday and a much colder, windy weekend, according to the National Weather Service office in Mount Holly.

The leftovers of former Hurricane Isaias are moving offshore Monday morning. Any early showers should clear out, with north winds gusting to around 15 to 20 mph before easing in the afternoon. The Columbus Day forecast for Denville calls for mostly sunny skies and a high near 73.

Tuesday and Wednesday turn warm and humid. Denville’s forecast tops out near 75 on Tuesday and near 77 on Wednesday, and forecasters say parts of the region could reach the mid 80s midweek. A passing front could spark a few isolated showers Tuesday night and Wednesday evening, but rain looks limited.

Thursday is cooler and less humid, with a high near 67 and a slight chance of a shower after 2 p.m. Showers become likely Thursday night into Friday, when the chance of rain climbs to about 70 percent and the high reaches the upper 60s. Rain is likely on the same day Pink Witches Night Out returns to Downtown Denville, so check with organizers for any weather updates.

The cold front pushes through Friday, and the weekend feels like late fall. Saturday’s high is forecast near 51 under mostly sunny skies, with a low around 35 Saturday night. Sunday stays sunny and cool, near 55. Forecasters also expect a windy weekend as a deepening storm to the north and high pressure to the west tighten the pressure gradient.

Bundle up if you are heading to The Witchery at Ayres Knuth Farm on Saturday evening. For the latest hour by hour outlook, see the National Weather Service forecast for Denville. Forecasters note there is still a wide range in the weekend guidance, so details may shift.
