The Denville Township Health Department will hold a free rabies vaccination clinic for dogs and cats on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2026, from 8 to 10 a.m. at 140 Morris Ave., the township’s Recycling Center site at the rear of the Public Works complex.

No appointment is needed and walk-ins are welcome, according to the township’s clinic notice. Dogs must be on a leash, and cats must arrive in carriers.

Denville runs these free clinics twice a year, and they are open to residents and non-residents alike, according to the Health Department’s animal licensing page.

The November date also lands right before license renewal season. Every dog living in Denville must be licensed by 7 months of age or once it has its permanent teeth, and owners are required to renew before Dec. 31 for the coming licensing year. Dog applications received after Jan. 31 are charged a late fee. Cats run on a separate cycle, with renewals due before May 31.

Both dog and cat license applications must include a copy of the pet’s current rabies vaccination certificate if it has been updated since the last renewal. The township requires that vaccination to stay valid through at least 10 months of the final year of the license period. Pets with a medical exemption from the rabies vaccine qualify only for a one-year license.

License applications and fees go to the Denville Health Department at 1 Saint Mary’s Place. The office is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and can be reached at 973-625-8300.
