Fall cleanup season is here, and curbside leaf and brush collection in Denville runs township-wide now through Dec. 31, 2026. Here is a quick guide to the Denville Recycling Center, the curbside leaf and brush rules, and where to take items the township does not pick up.
Denville Recycling Center hours and location
The Denville Recycling Center is at 140 Morris Ave., the same address as the Department of Public Works. Posted hours are:
- Monday to Friday: 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Saturday: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Sunday: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Residents bringing shredded paper in bags must empty it into the bins themselves or use the secured bin on site. Leaves, brush and grass can be dropped off any time the center is open. Current hours are posted on the township’s Recycling Center page.
Fall 2026 leaf and brush pickup rules
Curbside leaf and brush collection runs township-wide from Sept. 16 through Dec. 31. Public Works asks residents to follow these rules:
- Put leaves in biodegradable paper bags or a rigid container without a lid, such as a garbage can.
- Stack brush in a neat pile, with pieces no longer than 6 feet and no more than 6 inches in diameter.
- Do not tie brush.
- Grass clippings are not picked up at the curb. The township encourages residents to mulch them or bring them to the Recycling Center.
Curbside collection pauses each year from June 16 to Sept. 15 and resumes in the spring on April 1, weather permitting. Full details are on the township’s leaf and brush pickup page.
Curbside recycling and missed pickups
The township’s recycling and garbage page points residents to the Recycle Coach app for pickup reminders and has an online form to report a missed garbage or recycling pickup. Public Works can be reached at 973-625-8334. Holiday weeks can shift the schedule, as they did around Labor Day this year.
Electronics do not belong in the regular trash. New Jersey has banned disposing of electronic waste with household garbage since Jan. 1, 2011.
One Morris County hazardous waste day left in 2026
Motor oil, solvents, pesticides, propane cylinders, pool chemicals and similar household hazardous waste cannot go out with the trash. The Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority’s last household hazardous waste day of 2026 is Saturday, Oct. 24, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pequannock Valley Park, Marvin Road, Pompton Plains. Proof of Morris County residency, such as a current driver’s license, lease or tax bill, is required.
