Rhyme & Reason Child Care and PreSchool, the early learning center at 8 Myers Ave. in Denville, marked its 50th anniversary on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, with a Fall Fest for current and former families.

In a post on the center’s official Facebook page that evening, the school thanked the families, staff and neighbors who came out, and noted a visit from Mayor Thomas Andes. The post also gave a special thank you to the Denville Police Department and the Denville Fire Department for their support over the years.

“Rhyme & Reason is more than just a school… WE ARE FAMILY!” the center wrote.

The sign out front reads “Est. 1976.” According to the center’s own history page, the school started in Dover in the mid-1970s before opening its current home in Denville, a house in a residential neighborhood close to Routes 80, 46 and 10.

Today the center serves children from about 14 months old through the early elementary grades. Its programs include two toddler groups, the Itty Bitties and the Little Tikes, a Bridge Group focused on sharing, taking turns and handling emotions, and a Pre Kindergarten class built around learning stations with early reading, math and science.

Older children can attend before and after school care, and the center says it works with public school bus systems so kids get on and off the bus safely. Parents comparing options can also check our guide to Denville’s public schools.

Half a century is a long run for any small business. Congratulations to the Rhyme & Reason family on 50 years in town.
