Morris County and its municipalities have completed an update to the 2020 Multi-Jurisdictional Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan, a critical document designed to help communities identify risks, assess vulnerabilities, and develop strategies to reduce potential losses from natural disasters.
An up-to-date hazard mitigation plan is essential for ensuring that municipalities remain eligible for federal funding that supports projects to reduce the impact of natural hazards. These projects can include infrastructure improvements, emergency preparedness measures, and other efforts that strengthen community resilience.
As part of the final review process, Morris County invites residents to review the draft version of the updated plan and provide feedback. Community input is an important part of the planning process, helping officials ensure that local concerns are addressed and that strategies are tailored to meet the specific needs of each municipality.
The draft plan is available on the Official Website of Morris County, New Jersey, where residents can also access a link to submit comments. All responses will remain anonymous.
The public comment period is open through April 11, 2025.
Residents are encouraged to participate and share their perspectives on how Morris County can better protect people, property, and infrastructure from future disasters.
