Morris County residents who want to vote in the Nov. 3, 2026 general election have until Tuesday, Oct. 13 to register, according to the county’s official election calendar. That is three weeks before Election Day, and the deadline applies in Denville and every other Morris County town.

To register, a person must be a U.S. citizen, be at least 17 years old and a Morris County resident for 30 days before the election, and not be serving a sentence of incarceration for an indictable offense. Seventeen-year-olds can register, but they cannot vote until they turn 18. Applicants should have their date of birth, address, and a driver’s license, non-driver ID or Social Security number ready.

There are several ways to sign up. Residents can register online through the New Jersey Division of Elections voter registration portal, or mail a paper form to the Morris County Commissioner of Registration, PO Box 900, Morristown, NJ 07963-9912. Completed forms can also be dropped in the lobby box at the county Administration and Records Building, 10 Court St., Morristown, and voters can register at a Motor Vehicle Commission office while applying for or renewing a license or non-driver ID. Paper forms are available at municipal clerk’s offices, including Denville’s, and on the county’s Register to Vote page.

Other key dates on the county calendar: early in-person voting runs Oct. 24 through Nov. 1. Voters who moved within the county or did not receive a mail-in ballot can apply for one by mail until Oct. 27, or in person until 3 p.m. on Nov. 2. Polls are open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 3.

Mail-in ballots returned in person must reach the Board of Elections or an official ballot drop box by 8 p.m. on Election Day. Ballots sent through the Postal Service must be postmarked by Nov. 3 and received by Nov. 9. Denville voters can find the local drop box in our guide to the Denville ballot drop box.

Questions can go to the county election office at 973-285-6715 or elections@co.morris.nj.us. The full schedule is on the county’s election calendar.
