The Mount Tabor Children’s Day parade steps off at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026, and a Denville band will be in the line of march.
The Denville String Band, a concert and marching band based in town, lists the Mt Tabor Children’s Parade on its public performance calendar for that afternoon.
Organizers set this year’s Children’s Day theme as “Big Top Tabor,” announced on the celebration’s official page in April.
Mount Tabor sits just outside Denville in Parsippany-Troy Hills. The community was founded in 1869 as New Jersey’s first permanent Methodist camp meeting ground, and its tight rows of Victorian cottages are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Mount Tabor governed itself under a state charter until 1980, when it formally became part of Parsippany-Troy Hills.
The weekend runs past the parade. The Mount Tabor Historical Society will open the Richardson History House at 32 Trinity Place for free tours from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 9.
The society lists 973-975-0001 for questions and asks visitors to check its website before heading over in case of last-minute schedule changes.
Denville families have a closer night out on the calendar first. National Night Out is set for Tuesday, Aug. 4 at the lower fields at 18 Pocono Road.
