Morris County residents will get an in-person chance to tell state education officials what they think of how New Jersey pays for its public schools, when the New Jersey Department of Education holds a regional public forum at County College of Morris on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2026.
The session runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Davidson Conference Room at the college, 214 Center Grove Road in Randolph. The department recently added the date to the schedule for its School Funding Outreach Project, a statewide listening effort it says will run over the next 15 months.
Each forum opens with a short, plain-language overview of how school funding works in New Jersey. Anyone who wants to speak can then give public comment for up to three minutes. At in-person sessions, speaker sign-ups are first come, first served. The department says every forum follows the same format, so there is no need to attend more than one.
Residents who would rather not wait can join a virtual statewide forum on Thursday, Nov. 12, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Registration for both sessions is on the NJDOE stakeholder engagement page. Written comments can also be emailed to FundingOutreach@doe.nj.gov.
According to the department, feedback from the forums, community roundtables and other outreach will be reviewed together as it develops recommendations for improving the state’s school funding system. Morris County superintendents already met with the department on Oct. 16 as part of the same effort.
State aid decisions ripple into budgets across the county, including Denville’s elementary and middle schools and the Morris Hills Regional District. For more on local schools, see the Denville Board of Education election results and our Education coverage.
