Morris Knolls girls soccer pulled off a road upset and is now two wins from a sectional title. The sixth-seeded Golden Eagles beat No. 3 Tenafly 1-0 on Friday, Nov. 6, in the North Jersey, Section 1, Group 3 quarterfinals, according to the NJSIAA sectional bracket.
Next up is the sectional semifinal on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2026. Morris Knolls will face the winner of the quarterfinal between No. 7 Roxbury and No. 2 Northern Valley Old Tappan, which had not posted a final score as of Saturday morning. Kickoff time and site were still listed as to be announced. The sectional final is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 13.
The win over Tenafly was the second straight playoff victory for the Golden Eagles. They opened the tournament with a 6-2 home win over No. 11 River Dell on Nov. 3, a game we previewed ahead of the Tenafly trip. Morris Knolls is now 9-7-1, while Tenafly’s season ends at 12-5-1.
Before the playoffs began, the Golden Eagles closed the regular season with a 7-6 overtime win over Dover on Oct. 30.
The girls’ run continues a busy week for Morris Knolls athletics. On the same night, the Morris Knolls football team fell 28-27 at Northern Highlands in its own sectional semifinal.
Families can follow the updated bracket on the NJSIAA tournament page, and playoff games are commonly streamed on the NFHS Network. We will post the semifinal result once it is final.
