Denville public school students get a four-day weekend this week. Schools are closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 5 and 6, 2026, for the annual New Jersey Education Association convention.
The closure applies to all three Denville Township School District buildings, Lakeview and Riverview elementary schools and Valleyview Middle School, according to the district’s 2026-27 calendar. The Morris Hills Regional District, which runs Morris Knolls High School, lists the same two days as closed for the State Teachers Convention.
Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, is not a day off on either calendar.
The rest of November follows the usual holiday pattern. Denville’s K-8 schools have an early dismissal on Wednesday, Nov. 25, then close Thursday and Friday, Nov. 26 and 27, for Thanksgiving. Morris Hills Regional also marks Nov. 25 as an early dismissal day, with Morris Knolls letting out at 12:16 p.m., and lists Nov. 26 and 27 as Thanksgiving recess.
The long weekend lands on the same Friday that Morris Knolls football visits Northern Highlands in the state semifinal. Our semifinal preview has the details.
For every day off, break and the last day of school, see our Denville schools 2026-27 calendar guide. The district posts its printable calendar, along with a link to the Morris Hills Regional calendar, on its official calendar page.
