The Carol Jacko Great Denville Duck Race and Duck Decorating Contest returns to Gardner Field on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, with check in opening at 10 a.m.

The Denville Sunrise Rotary Club runs the event. Judging for the decorated duck contest runs from 10 to 11:30 a.m., and the race itself starts at noon. The club’s flyer also lists vendors, games and prizes, plus singers from a group called Performing for Positivity.

Ducks are $10 each. Residents can buy them ahead of race day at Denville Dairy and Denville Dog and Grill, and the club says it will have plenty available at the field on race morning.

Gardner Field sits on West Main Street and is one of Denville’s main recreation properties, with a bandstand and a picnic pavilion alongside the community playground off Savage Road.

Platinum sponsors listed on the flyer are Anthony and Sons, Dover Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram, the law firm Bell, Shivas and Bell, and Culligan.

The club calls the race a Denville tradition and a family event. It is one of several community gatherings held at the field, which also hosts the Denville Food Truck Festival and the town’s Fourth of July fireworks. Anyone planning to go should watch the Denville Sunrise Rotary Club page for weather updates in the days before Sept. 26.
