Denville’s annual Independence Day fireworks and concert, postponed from the July 4 weekend because of extreme heat and the threat of severe thunderstorms, now has a firm new date. The township has set the makeup show for Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 7 p.m. at Gardner Field.
The free evening opens with a performance by The Street Hassle Band, with the fireworks display following after dark. Gardner Field sits at 2 Savage Road, the same park that hosts the town’s summer Music in the Park series.
The fireworks were originally slated for the Denville Days weekend, but organizers called them off in advance to protect the crowd from dangerous heat and a high chance of late-day storms. Officials noted that fireworks contracts require full payment even if a show is scrapped the day of, so the township chose to postpone rather than risk a washout.
The new date lands just after the Denville Firemen’s Carnival, which marks its 100th year July 14 to 18, keeping the town’s summer calendar busy into late July.
Families are encouraged to arrive early and stake out a spot. The township asks attendees to bring their own camping chairs along with their favorite food and drinks, and to leave pets at home. Parking near Gardner Field fills up fast, so neighbors who can walk or bike to the field are encouraged to do so.
Mayor Thomas Andes thanked residents for their patience through the power outages and heat that followed the July 3 storm. Anyone planning to attend the July 25 show should watch the township’s channels for any last-minute weather updates.
