The Pink Witches Night Out 5K, scheduled for this morning in downtown Denville, has been postponed to Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026. Organizers announced the change Saturday evening, pointing to the weather forecast and the safety of runners, volunteers and everyone working the course.
The decision comes as a nor’easter brings wind and rain across Morris County this weekend, which we reported on Saturday. The race had been listed as rain or shine on its registration page, but organizers said caution won out.
Registered runners will receive an email with updated information and details, according to the announcement posted on the official Pink Witches Night Out Instagram account. Anyone signed up should check their inbox for the new plan.
The run/walk reached capacity earlier this month, and the race registration page says entries will not reopen for safety reasons. The course starts and finishes in downtown Denville on an updated certified route.
Proceeds support this year’s beneficiary, Michelle Haiduc-Dale, a mother of three recently diagnosed with glioblastoma. The 5K is part of the Kathy Olenowski Foundation’s fall lineup, which builds to Pink Witches Night Out, the foundation’s breast cancer awareness night on Broadway. That event is still set for Friday, Oct. 16, 2026, and is free to attend, according to the foundation’s events page.
Oct. 4 is now shaping up as a full Sunday in town. The Denville Food Truck Festival runs that afternoon at Gardner Field, and the Pathways of History tour opens local historic sites that weekend.
