Registration for the second annual Pink Witches 5K Run/Walk is closed, and organizers say it will not reopen before the race takes over Downtown Denville on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026.
The race filled to capacity. In a notice on the official race page, organizers said no additional spots will be added for safety reasons and asked anyone who still wants to be part of the day to volunteer instead.
The 5K runs from 9 a.m. to noon and starts and finishes in Downtown Denville. The course has been changed from last year over safety concerns, and organizers said the updated map will be certified by race day. The first 350 people who signed up receive a race shirt, and age group medals will be awarded.
Proceeds benefit the Kathy Olenowski Foundation, the Denville nonprofit behind Pink Witches Night Out. The foundation said this year’s money is being raised for a mother of three recently diagnosed with glioblastoma.
The foundation is named for Kathy Olenowski, a Denville business owner who died of thyroid cancer in 2011 at 55. Her daughter, Meg Olenowski, started Pink Witches Night Out the following year inside a single downtown store. That first event raised $400. In 2025 the effort donated $85,000 to beneficiary Francesca Esposito, and the foundation says it has raised more than $200,000 since 2012.
The main event follows on Friday, Oct. 16, 2026, when Pink Witches Night Out returns to Broadway from 5:30 to 10 p.m. That night is free to attend.
