Democrat Analilia Mejia has won a full two-year term in Congress representing New Jersey’s 11th District, the seat that covers Denville and much of Morris County. The Associated Press called the race for Mejia on Tuesday night, Nov. 3.
RACE CALLED
Analilia Mejia (D) wins NJ-11
Defeats Republican Joe Hathaway. Independent Alan Bond was also on the ballot.
The win is a rematch result. Mejia beat Hathaway, a Republican from Randolph, in April’s special election to fill the seat left open when Mikie Sherrill became governor. Mejia won that race 60 percent to 40 percent.
Mejia, of Glen Ridge, is a longtime labor and community organizer. She has held the seat since the special election earlier this year, and this race gives her a full term starting in January.
The 11th District includes Denville and most of Morris County, along with parts of Essex and Passaic counties.
Final vote totals have not been released yet. All results remain unofficial until they are certified by county election officials.
