Someone in New Jersey is holding a ticket worth $847 million, and the hunt for the winner is on.
The New Jersey Lottery says the only jackpot-winning ticket in Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing on Nov. 4 was sold at the Wegmans Food Market at 100 Farm View in Montvale, Bergen County.
The ticket matched all five white balls, 15, 34, 41, 53 and 56, plus the red Powerball 21. The Power Play was 2X.
It is the ninth largest jackpot in Powerball history and the seventh Powerball jackpot won anywhere in the country this year. The winner can take the full $847 million as an annuity paid out over 29 years, or a one-time cash payment of about $363.1 million. Both figures are before taxes. Wegmans also picks up a $30,000 bonus for selling the ticket.
As of Thursday, the winner had not come forward. “We are excited to meet the winner soon,” said NJ Lottery Executive Director James Carey.
Lottery officials say whoever holds the ticket should sign the back right away, make copies, keep it somewhere safe and talk with financial and legal advisors before claiming. Winners have one year from the drawing date to claim a prize.
Two other New Jersey tickets won $50,000 in the same drawing. A Powerball ticket sold at Vineland Discount Liquors in Vineland matched four white balls plus the Powerball, and a Double Play ticket sold at Jersey Pride Food Store in Old Bridge matched four white balls plus the Double Play ball.
Picked up a ticket on a run up to Bergen County, or anywhere around Morris County this week? Now is a good time to check those numbers. The Powerball jackpot resets to $20 million for Saturday’s drawing.
