Chatham ended Morris Knolls football’s six-game winning streak on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, beating the Golden Eagles 28-21 in the last weekend before the state playoff cutoff.

The loss leaves Morris Knolls, the regional high school that serves Denville, at 7-2 overall and 3-1 in league play. Chatham has now won four straight.

The Golden Eagles came into the weekend on a long run. After a Week 2 loss at Roxbury, they beat Warren Hills, Morristown, Mount Olive, West Morris Central, Randolph and Immaculata, scoring 334 points and allowing 128 through their first eight games. We previewed the matchup earlier this week, and the full slate is in our 2026 Morris Knolls schedule.

Saturday’s game also mattered for the postseason. The NJSIAA set Oct. 24 as the regular-season cutoff for public schools, with seeds scheduled for release on Sunday, Oct. 25. First-round state playoff games are set for Friday, Oct. 30, or Saturday, Oct. 31. Morris Knolls plays in North Group 4 for state playoff purposes.

We will post Morris Knolls’ first-round matchup, kickoff time and location once the NJSIAA pairings are final. Game times and sites are set after seeding, so fans should check the bracket before heading out.
